Front Cover Comparison
Comparison between chosen draft idea and final version of front cover.

Looking at my inital idea and my final version i believe them both to be very similar and that i have followed the generic conventions of a Mainstream music magazine such as NME, i think this design and set up worked well to create a believable front cover such as this.
Third Photoshoot Pics
First Objective Complete..
After a quick survey of the people around me, the band name The Unwanted was chosen as the most suitable for my genre of magazine.
Band Name Research
I used a random band name generator to come up with a band name that i could use in my media article. Heres a few i thought would work well.
Binary Flight
The Confused
Plain Obsessive
Revoked Leader
Blue Destruction
Faint Society

Front Cover Practice Second Attempt
Improved Masthead Idea

This is my final improved masthead.
I chose the colour red in this masthead as this is a common colour associated with mainstream magazines such as my intended genre. The combination of red and white i chose as it is eye catching and the five white lines in the background are to simulate the lines on a score of music. A simple "MUSIC FOR THE PEOPLE" under the abbreviated version once again makes it appear as a music magazine to the intended reader from a distance, which is how mast heads work.
Initial MastHead Idea

This was my first masthead that I designed for my Mainstream Music Magazine, as this is the choice of music magazine that i went for.
Rules for good photography.
Dont have cluttered backgrounds, make it as empty as possible, make sure it is portrait rather than landscape for the front cover.
Make sure you focus on the most important person in the picture as this brings the readers attention to them sooner.
Dont put text or images over the masthead as the masthead is what potential readers identify the magazine by at a glance.
Dont use high angle shots, as this can distort images and give the wrong perspective.
Mediate the band or subjects pose as this will look better in photos.
